‘The Creators of Eternal Egypt’: the exhibition in the Basilica Palladiana<\/b><\/h3>\n

From <\/span>22 December to 7 May<\/b>, in Vicenza’s Piazza dei Signori, you can visit an interesting exhibition on ancient Egypt, which provides an insight into how the tombs and <\/span>funerary goods<\/b> of the great pharaohs were created. It is an incredible journey that unites life and death, which is also why it is structured in two parts.<\/span><\/p>\n

Thebes and Deir el-Medina: two places to travel through time<\/b><\/h3>\n

The first part of the exhibition is dedicated to <\/span>Thebes<\/b>, the famous city and seat of the great temples: one discovers the monumental statues of the gods and the sculptural groups dedicated to the rulers.<\/span><\/p>\n

However, it was not at Thebes that the creation of each object that made up a pharaoh’s grave goods took place. Since the exact location of the tombs was concealed from most, all the <\/span>workers (and their families) who worked on these artefacts<\/b> lived isolated from Thebes, in a village on the other side of the Nile: <\/span>Deir el-Medina<\/b>. It was here that artefacts were produced that even today are surprising for their beauty and significance, and it is in this context that the second part of the exhibition is presented.<\/span><\/p>\n

Thousand-year-old finds reveal how eternity was created<\/b><\/h3>\n

The visitor discovers how the craftsmen dedicated to these activities lived and worked and then becomes fascinated by the objects produced by these artists. There are splendid <\/span>painted sarcophagi<\/b> and many <\/span>artefacts from the funerary goods<\/b> that tell of the pharaohs’ journey to the afterlife. The exhibits came to Vicenza from the museums mentioned above: the Louvre in Paris and the Egyptian Museum in Turin. In all, <\/span>200 exhibits<\/b> can be admired on a journey that goes beyond mere observation. A <\/span>video-mapping<\/b> installation created on the <\/span>3D-printed<\/b> reproduction of the sarcophagus of the scribe Butehamon reveals the secrets it contained and brings the story of this extraordinary find to life.<\/span><\/p>\n
