Looking out of the windows of Hotel Tritone, one notices the terraces covered with small plants and flowers forming a lively carpet. It is an original and enchanting sight, but perhaps few know that those plants are <\/span>contributing to the well-being of the environment and the planet<\/b>!<\/span><\/p>\n

This ‘green roof’ is used for greening roofs, reducing their thickness, decreasing their weight and reducing maintenance. Moreover, the greatest advantage of this roof is <\/span>thermal insulation<\/b>. In summer, it keeps the air conditioning cool and in winter, it keeps the heating warm. This saves energy and harmful emissions.<\/span><\/p>\n

The stars of this green revolution are several plants of the <\/span>Sedum<\/b> variety, from the <\/span>Crassulaceae<\/b> family. These are perennials or semi-perennials that can live both in very hot, arid and rocky environments and in cold, cool climates. These plants require very little maintenance and by nature grow well along walls and between rocks. Thus, continuous irrigation is not required: the plants <\/span>adapt to the local climate<\/b>, resisting heat and cold, and <\/span>regenerate by propagating themselves<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The eco-sustainable terraces are one of the many actions that Hotel Tritone takes daily to make a concrete contribution to environmental protection. For years, the principles of ‘<\/span>Tritone for Life<\/span><\/a>‘ have been followed, <\/span>a philosophy that starts with a deep respect and love for nature<\/b> in order to put respect for the environment into practice.<\/span><\/p>\n

In this blog, we have already reported on some <\/span>sustainable<\/span><\/a> interventions and how <\/span>thermal water<\/b> is reused to heat rooms in winter, as well as how <\/span>rainwater<\/b> is stored in the park’s pond and then used to irrigate the lawn.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

There are also other actions that have been taken in favour of the environment. First of all, the more energy-intensive <\/span>lamps <\/b>\u00a0have been replaced with <\/span>led<\/b> lamps, which save 60% to 90% energy.<\/span><\/p>\n

With regard to waste, in addition to engaging in <\/span>separate waste collection<\/b>, we try to plan our grocery shopping to maximise the use of food, using as much as possible <\/span>local products, <\/b>\u00a0such as oil from the <\/span>Frantoio di Cornoleda<\/span><\/a> and honey from Apicoltura Giarin, to reduce the environmental impact of transport emissions.<\/span><\/p>\n

Finally, we try to make guests aware of the need to cooperate in order to<\/span> avoid wasteful <\/b>washing of sheets and towels, indicating how to inform the staff if they wish to request a change of linen.<\/span><\/p>\n
