Many guests probably already know Monselice, the fame of its castle and the unique profile of its fortress.<\/p>\n

However, few people know that it is possible to reach this medieval town on\u00a0 a special vehicle that allows you to \u00a0slowly savour the views of the Euganean Hills and the province of Padua.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The itinerary we propose can be travelled by bike; it is the third route in the “Viaggi Euganei”<\/strong> series, which has so far featured the Ring of the Euganean Hills <\/a>\u00a0and the \u00a0\u00a0cycle-tourism Giro of the sanctuaries.<\/a><\/p>\n

Like the latter, the Battaglia canal cycle path is an easy \u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0itinerary, and is also ideal for those who don’t usually ride bikes.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, the bikes available at the hotel are \u00a0e-bikes, <\/strong>\u00a0which offer an extra push for those who are not cyclists. Electric bikes can be booked directly at our reception, and can \u00a0be collected from and delivered back to the Hotel. <\/strong><\/p>\n

So let’s look at the stops on the Battaglia canal cycle path up to Monselice.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Monteortone: the departure and the views of the Hills<\/strong><\/h3>\n

It starts from \u00a0Monteortone, <\/strong>\u00a0part of the municipality of Abano Terme. The start is about 3 km from the Hotel Tritone, a distance which must be added to the distance planned for the entire tour ( 30 km <\/strong>). The starting point is the bus station; from here the route continues south, leaving behind the sanctuary of Monteortone – one of the stops on the cycle tour of the sanctuaries.<\/p>\n

Before arriving at the start of the Battaglia canal cycle path, you travel along roads that offer \u00a0green views, <\/strong>\u00a0such as of the woods surrounding the \u00a0monastery of San Daniele. <\/strong><\/a>\u00a0Moreover, cycling in this direction you can see some of the Euganean Hills on this side of the park: Monte Alto, Monte Oliveto and Montenuovo.<\/p>\n

The Battaglia canal cycle path: the Catajo castle and Battaglia Terme<\/strong><\/h3>\n

This part of the itinerary is different from the one just travelled: you leave the curves behind to take a straight and rapid path towards Monselice. One of the obligatory stops on this section of the itinerary is the \u00a0castle of Catajo: <\/strong><\/a>\u00a0it is a corner of history with extraordinary frescoes and old trees.<\/p>\n

Continuing along the canal you reach Battaglia Terme, a small town that amazes for its ancient bridges and is coloured by the boats that are often stationary on the banks.<\/p>\n

Towards Monselice, among the superb views of the Hills<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Continuing straight along the cycle path that follows the canal, the panorama is enthralling with its exceptional views. One view is that of \u00a0Villa Selvatico, <\/strong>which stands on the hill of Sant\u2019Elena.<\/p>\n

Accompanied by the sinuous line of the Hills, you then reach Monselice, which is recognized for the \u00a0fortress that stands<\/strong> scenic and regal on the top of the hill of the same name.<\/p>\n

Once you have arrived here, it’s time to take a well-deserved break before \u00a0setting off again along the same path <\/strong>\u00a0and returning to Abano Terme.<\/p>\n
