Fighting water retention and cellulite with thalassotherapy: an interview with Erica

The start of the New Year is the perfect time to take care of yourself and restore balance to your body and mind. Feeling good in your own skin is an essential component of wellness, not just a matter of aesthetics. Among the most effective natural treatments to combat problems such as cellulite and water retention is thalassotherapy, a practice that harnesses the regenerating benefits of the sea directly in our SPA.

To better understand this treatment and its impact on the body, we interviewed our beautician Erica.

“How does thalassotherapy work in the treatment of cellulite and water retention?”

“Thalassotherapy acts first of all on fluid retention, i.e. where there is water stagnation and swollen tissue. It is also particularly effective on chronic cellulite and localised adiposity.

The treatment consists of several stages. We start by applying salt without a preliminary massage, followed by the application of a lipid-reducing mud, which acts as a fat burner, dissolving the most superficial fat deposits. The treatment is targeted at critical areas such as the inner thighs, outer thighs and buttocks, but can be extended to the whole body, avoiding just the breasts. Already from the first session, a visible difference can be seen: the tissue deflates and reshapes.

We use sea salt rich in algae, which has an osmotic, draining action and immediately deflates the tissue. Salt, thanks to its trace elements and salt components, becomes an essential ally for drainage from the very first application.

Each treatment is customised through a preliminary analysis of the customer’s figure to identify their specific needs; they can choose between a draining or a firming treatment depending on the objectives”.

When do you see the benefits?

“The first results start to be visible already after the first session. With the second and third sessions, a tangible reduction in centimetres is noticeable. To prolong the positive effects, we also recommend the use of care products at home, combined with an appropriate diet.”

Is thalassotherapy suitable for everyone? Are there any contraindications to consider?

Thalassotherapy is suitable for practically everyone, with a few exceptions. It is best avoided in case of injured skin, ulcers or active dermatitis. Otherwise, it suits every type of customer, especially those who want visible results in a short time.”

For optimal results, how many sessions are recommended and how often?

“For optimal results, we recommend three consecutive sessions in three days, to give the tissue continuous stimulation and maximise the benefits. This intensive approach achieves a visible reduction in centimetres and an improvement in tissue tone.”
