The Wine Road through the Euganean Hills: a journey through nature, flavours and landscapes
The Euganean Hills area offers a unique combination of elements: scenic roads, historic villages, orderly vineyards and a long wine-making tradition.
The Euganean Hills Wine Road traverses this varied landscape and culture, offering an itinerary ideal for people who enjoy exploring at their leisure, tasting local products and being active in the open air.
It is an ideal route for hiking or cycling, with stages that combine the pleasure of the visit with the quality of the experience.
Euganean Hills: a natural and cultural balance
The Euganean Hills are an area of volcanic origin, rich in biodiversity and shaped over the centuries by the presence of man. Here, Mediterranean scrub and the geometry of the vineyards, shady forests and solitary parish churches, noble villas and rural villages coexist. It is this harmony between natural elements and human intervention that makes the landscape so unique. The mud used in the spa is certified and the waters flowing from underground are recognised for their beneficial effects. It is an area that has made the protection of its resources a vocation.
In this context, a strong focus on quality was born. The wines Euganean Hills boast DOC and DOCG designations, including Colli Euganei Fior d’Arancio DOCG, Colli Euganei Rosso DOC, Serprino DOC.

Combining culture, tastings and surprising landmarks
Along the route of the Wine Road, you will come across places that are well worth a stop. You can visit a mediaeval castle such as Valbona, admire the frescoed architecture of the Castello del Catajo or discover the charm of the Villa dei Vescovi, nestled between the vineyards and the hills. There is no lack of spirituality, represented by the thousand-year-old Praglia Abbey, nor of poetry, preserved in the house in Archà where Francis Petrarch lived.
Alongside historic places, you can visit family-run wine cellars, oil mills, wine museums and even attractions dedicated to nature.

Cycling routes: nature and movement
The Euganean Hills lend themselves perfectly to touring on two wheels. The area is criss-crossed by cycling routes suitable for different levels of fitness: from flat stretches for occasional cyclists to scenic climbs offering spectacular views. The Anello dei Colli Euganei (Euganean Hills Cycling Ring), in particular, is one of the most popular routes: 63 kilometres of paved road through the regional park, passing vineyards, olive groves, castles and small villages.
